Yemeni President Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi pledged on Sunday to rid the military institution of corruption and fictitious names

During a meeting with senior commanders of Ministry of Defense and Fourth Military Zone, the President asserted that all divisions of the military institution should witness a new phase that is free of corruption and of fake names causing unnecessary spending

“The military institution should set a good example for patriotism and success as, if established on professional bases, it represents the country’s fortified fence and bastion. Here is your responsibility, you must lay down these foundations,” he said

Hadi also said that officials are fully aware of the current challenges and catastrophic implications of the war that have heavily “overburdened the already fatigued country and seriously affected our people’s
living conditions.” However, he added, “We have to undertake our national and moral responsibilities toward our people”

In another Yemeni context, local sources told Asharq Al-Awsat that the undersecretary for the Houthi-run Awqaf and religious guidance ministry, Saleh Al-Khawlani, had asked mosques preachers and imams at the Zaidiyah district in the north of Hodeidah, to incite people to fight and encourage them to accept death for the Houthi cause, which he claimed was advocating Islam with divine orders

According to the sources, Houthi leader Abdul-Malik al-Houthi sent one of his relatives, Abdel-Majid al-Houthi, to the district of Bajel, which stretches to the north and east of Hodeidah, to spread fatwas calling on people to join the ranks of rebels and to die for the Houthi cause against the Arab coalition and legitimate government forces
